HERO Challenge One- Peak District date confirmed for Sunday July 18th
Organisers hopeful of delivering a ‘Full On’ Rally plus Hospitality experienceGeorge Mullins, Clerk of the Course explained why the date had to move to July from it’s original date in May.

George;” Essentially, government guidelines preventing overnight stays in hotels on the previous May date, for anything other than work, meant our competitors would have been unable to stay over. We think that would have made it difficult for the event to work, especially as some competitors would have to travel long distances on top of the covering the event mileage.

“We will also be adhering to Motorsport UK guidance, taking into account any changes as any potential lifting of restrictions eases.”

With the later date of July, George feels that it may allow the event to open up other rally enjoyments.

The Clerk of the Course explained; “The Great news is provided everything is going to happen as we expect it should, this could be an event where we can experience hospitality again, have dinner together, enjoy a prize giving. So if everything goes to plan we could be back to some sort of normality. We believe changing to this July Sunday date is a very worthwhile thing to do.

“Scrutineering and documentation will be on the Saturday with the rally on Sunday 18th July, all based at the CASA Hotel in Chesterfield. It will follow the successful HERO Challenge blueprint, this one is a blue coded event so the navigation shouldn’t be too stressful. There will be some easier map sections in the mix, although the event will get a bit harder as the day goes on, but it will still be biased towards the novice crews”.

The HERO Challenge One-Peak District route has been described as having a ‘bit of everything’ set in a beautiful part of the country, the Peak District, which in July should be superb.

George continued;  “We’ve finished the route and we are pretty pleased with it. The day will incorporate a good number and variety of tests in amongst the regularities.

“The event will based on Saturday and Sunday at the CASA Hotel in Chesterfield which is a great venue. We moved the rally to the Sunday as there have been issues in trying to secure venues for Fridays and Saturdays due to the inevitable amount of functions, such as weddings, stacking up due to the pandemic. The Sunday will work much better for us.

“All things being equal, we will be able to run this as an event that we want, being together at dinner, attending a prize giving again, some of the things we have been starved of for the last 12 months”.
